Save KYVA

Kentucky Virtual Academy (KYVA) is under threat. It's time for us to take action.

Join us in Frankfort on February 6th to make your voices heard in front of the Kentucky Senate Education Committee.

RSVP to Help Save KYVA

Your child's education is under threat.

Kentucky Virtual Academy (KYVA) is under threat. The Kentucky Department of Education has voted to cap enrollment, slashing it from 2,800 students to fewer than 30—effectively forcing the school to close for Fall 2025. If this decision stands, thousands of families will lose their only statewide school choice option, regardless of income, location, or academic background. Unlike other virtual programs, KYVA welcomes all students and provides computers and internet stipends for those in need.

This is more than a policy change — it’s a direct attack on your educational freedom.

Closing KYVA is unacceptable.

Sending students back to schools that failed them is not the answer. The fight isn’t over. So, what's next?

The Kentucky Legislature has delayed final action until February 6. We have time to make our voices heard, but we must act now.

Their Stories Matter.

We've heard from parents, students, and teachers on why KYVA is essential.

"My daughter has seizures and a stutter, but KYVA's attentive teachers provide her with the 1:1 support she needs. Closing KYVA would break our hearts."

Kara
KYVA Parent

"We really enjoy the flexibility and career readiness of KYVA. My daughter is a freshman this year and KYVA checked all the boxes for our family with homeschool and an accredited high school program."

"Since 2nd grade my daughter has had a difficult time with school. It  broke my heart because previously she loved school, but that changed when she had  teachers that didn’t understand her or her emotional needs. She went from thriving, to struggling and falling behind. After daily bullying incidents, we switched to KYVA. My daughter loves her onlien school and never wants to go back. She has an amazing and involved teacher and the flexibility to dedicate time to her favorite sport. Please don’t take away the school that finally gave her back her spark!

Erica
KYVA Parent

"My children's academic and social lives have significantly improved since switching to KYVA. In the traditional school setting, they struggled to achieve grades higher than C's and D's. At KYVA, they have blossomed. Their grades have risen to A's and B's, and they actively participate in class discussions, demonstrating a newfound confidence and social engagement. Beyond academics, KYVA provides a sense of safety that is crucial in today's world. The rise in school shootings is a constant worry, and knowing my children are safe at home while learning is a huge relief."

Joey
KYVA Parent

"My son was struggling in public school. In the county I live in, the teachers do not care about their students. KYVA is overall a much better experience for him. Please don’t take this program away it means so much to the students and their parents thank you.

Brooke
KYVA Parent

"My son had severe panic attacks that prevented him from going to in-person school. KYVA was our saving grace in a time of extreme uncertainty. Since joining KYVA, his confidence has skyrocketed because the meets his unique needs. Kentucky desperately needs schools like this - It would be a disservice to close our school."

Suzanne
KYVA Parent

"Before KYVA, I was unhealthy and mistreated by my teachers. Now I’m in a safe, supportive environment that has improved my mental and physical health. I am so thankful for KYVA - it has made my life amazing!”

"My siblings and I were raised on KYVA and it was the best experience. I was severely bullied growing up until my parents found KYVA, and it saved me in ways you couldn’t imagine. I am incredibly hurt to hear that the program I was raised In could disappear forever. This is really hard for me because of how great and life changing it was for me and my family. Now that I’m older and have kids of my own it’s a privilege to watch my kids grow through online school. Please save KYVA for the kids are are going to lose their friends and teachers.

"School has been a struggle for our daughter for years. After experiencing bullying that led to intense mental health instability, we moved to KYVA. Her mental health has thrived! Closing KYVA would be a huge mistake because. We aren’t the only family that has turned to KYVA  for a safe space for our children to learn."

Michelle
KYVA Parent

"KYVA just works for us. My son has both autism and ADHD.  He attended Kindergarten in a traditional brick and mortar school and he hated it.  He has thrived at KYVA! There will be more and more families turning to homeschooling because their children do better with the virtual setting and the freedom it offers.  Not all children fit the cookie cutter mold they seem to want with the Kentucky Board of Education!  Our KYVA kids are not robots and they will suffer if KYVA is forced to close."

Beth
KYVA Parent

My daughter was diagnosed with leukemia in 2020 at 3 years old. She started kindergarten while on chemo, but got sick so often she spent 3 months in the hospital. When she returned to school, my daughter was met with severe bullying. One time, 3 boys beat her while she had an active port in her chest. It could have killed her. I watched my girl slowly hate the life I hoped so hard she would survive long enough to see. After joining kyva, she feels heard, safe, has found her joy again. KYVA has changed her outlook on school entirely.

Kayla
KYVA Parent

“My daughter suffers from multiple chronic conditions, making in-person school impossible. When she tried, she faced relentless bullying and restrictive environments. KYVA makes learning easy and allows us to prioritize her medical needs. Shutting down this school would be terrible for my daughter and students who depend on it for their safety and success."

Barbara
KYVA Parent

"My girls were bullied relentlessly in brick and mortar schools. They weren’t engaged, they didn’t want to go, and often had bad grades. At KYVA, they’re engaged, learning, and their grades are up. The difference between brick and mortar and KYVA is night and day - for my kids and for me."

Amanda
KYVA Parent

"KYVA has changed my life. My whole life I have been bullied in school for my weight and how I look. In public school, even my teachers would bully me. Ever since starting KYVA, not only have my grades improved significantly, but my social and mental wellbeing has also improved. KYVA is an amazing free online school,. I am begging for you guys to save KYVA!"

Chloe
KYVA Student

"My daughter is on the spectrum. She has a very hard time concentrating and learning in a standard school environment. Since starting KYVA, she has gone from a C and D student to an A and B student. She is happier, her mental health is better. She is excelling in just about every aspect of her life.:
