Soon after, housing insecurity exacerbated their family’s hardship, and the question facing Shenell became: How do you give your child the stability of an education when you are facing lots of uncertainty? The PSO Florida team and parent advocates continue to plead legislators to give families the freedom to use Education Savings Accounts for full-time private and religious virtual schools. Last month, members of the PSO National team including Executive Director Kristen Tyagi and Board Treasurer Wei Barr were on the ground in Tallahassee to testify alongside these parents who want to see the law amended.

A coalition of leading pro-school choice organizations in Florida and across the U.S. sent a letter today to Florida legislators asking them to support “small, but necessary” changes to Florida’s education savings account (ESA) law to ensure families can use scholarship funds for private and religious full-time virtual schools.
