Wei Barr

Vice President

Alabama

Originally from China and now living in Tennessee, Wei Barr is a passionate advocate for educational freedom. Since immigrating to the U.S. in 2007, she has guided her children through a variety of K–12 schooling options, including their role as founding members of the Alabama Virtual Academy at Eufaula City Schools in 2016.

Wei has seen firsthand the transformative power of school choice for children and families. She believes that the freedom to choose is a cornerstone of a democratic society and works tirelessly to advance equity and access in education.

Deeply engaged in the Southeast education community, Wei served on the parent advisory committee for ALVA and has advocated before state legislators in support of school choice. Both she and her husband, Joseph, are instructional designers in the K–16 remote learning space. When she’s not in front of a screen, you’ll likely find her in the woodworking shop.
